Regarding questions about the Bennett property:
Location: see maps…………..
· Of course this location is several miles east of 60 Acres South which may present an undesirable situation for some of us, however…
· Extensive searches have been conducted to find any suitable location, anywhere
· Except for 60 Acres, the Bennett property may be the only/best alternative for RC soaring
· We regret the proximity problem this location presents for some people, and we wish them well in their soaring pursuits elsewhere
Description:
· Great big flat field surrounded by other big flat fields
· Well over 1,000 feet north-south and east-west: much larger than 60 Acres South
· Restricted access due to gates and fences
· Some livestock in surrounding fields although no obvious issues with them
· One dead tree on the northwest corner of the property
· Fencing surrounding the property to stay
· Dividing fences within the property to be removed
· Very tall grass to be mowed
· Hill to the southeast about ¼ mile away; wide open in all other directions
· Prone to flooding in the wettest times of the winter and spring
· Mr. Bennett seems very receptive to RC soaring and may become our good friend
Flight tests:
· Beardsley, Laurel and Page flew there and launched into thermals
· An RC sailplane friend and pilot of an ultra-light flew over and was in lift
· Observed plenty of soaring birds in lift
· In general, this site may have better flying conditions than 60 Acres South (except when flooded)
Follow these rules if you want to see it:
Violating these rules could jeopardize the whole thing for everyone!
· It is private property (as are the surrounding properties) and there is no trespassing by anyone
· Drive-by only; stay on the road; do not get out of your car; do not plan to fly there at this time
· Put your tray tables and seat backs in an upright and locked position
Do not try to contact the neighbors or Mr. Bennett
