Got Lift?
2005 Results

After a short rain delay the Got Lift? RES contest was underway last Saturday July 2 with seven pilots. Despite the overcast conditions, lift was to be found for the careful flier. Several flights found booming lift that 60 Acres is known for. There was a ten minute maximum flight per round and about one third of all the flights flown in the five round event were nine minutes or better.
The rain returned at the end of the last round forcing the winners’ plaques and prizes to be awarded in the equipment shed.
· Novice Matt Barger, flying a Spirit in his first contest and found his first thermal (feels good, doesn’t it Matt?)
· Two new League of Silent Flight Aspirants (LSF) signed up
· Only 57 points separated 1st and 3rd places in the Competitor class and only two points separated 1st and 2nd place making for a good contest
· Jim Laurel unveiled his new AVA and found it to be to his liking
· Loose talk around town is that a rematch is in order between the AVA and Bird of Time sometime this summer
Thank you to the participants and watch for other RES contests that may be developed soon.
Sincerely,
Loren Steel
