60 Acres                              60 Acres                            Club Field off right wing tip (by Philip Hui)                                                                                                                  Club Field from SE (by Philip Hui)

Location. 60-Acres Park South, Redmond, Washington (~14900 NE 116th St).   From Interstate 405 (I-405) take the 124th Street (not Avenue) NE exit at the Totem Lake Shopping Center near Kirkland, north of Bellevue.  Proceed east on 124th to 154th Pl NE (about 1 mile) and make a right on 154th and then another right at NE 116th St.  Finally, turn left into the gravel parking lot, east of the field. Travel out the back of the gravel lot... then you will encounter a "Y" with the left branch going to the south end of the field and the right branch going to the north end along 116th. See Map (needs updating for bridge construction) (Also: Google Map shows some more details, and zoom)

Safety. Flying safely is absolutely critical to our continued access to the field. Please do not fly low over people, cars, etc. Keep your planes away from the soccer fields and parking areas when there are games in progress. After you launch, walk out into the field two or three hundred feet so that you do not have to make your landing approach low over 116th, or low over other flyers and their cars. Your cooperation is appreciated.

Launching. Prevailing winds are typically from the north or south. High starts and winches are laid out in those directions rather than east-west.  Electric park fliers are flown ONLY on the West end of the field (please read park flier rules posted at the field).

Frequency Control. The use of a frequency control board is very important to prevent crashes caused by frequency conflicts. Do not turn on your transmitter unless your AMA card is the only one in the "flying" clip for your channel. If you are sharing a channel with others, be sure to coordinate very carefully with them. There is a frequency board at both the north and south ends of the fields.  Depending on the prevailing winds, only one or the other will be in operation at a time.  Be certain to ask the other pilots flying which board is in operation, Don't assume anything!

Housekeeping. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE take all of your trash with you when you leave. Even though there are garbage containers at the field, they do not get emptied on a regular basis. People just continue to pile their trash on the overflowing cans, resulting in a mess that other SASS members have to clean up.
